Wagon-Loads of Fun

The eldest and youngest and in-between grandchildren came to visit Saturday.
The temperature was nice...
...well, nice enough for mid-January.
The sun was shining...
...and that makes everything seem better!

Sweet little Luci snuggled down in her stroller...
...after a bit...

...of exploring and cooing...

...and just generally looking adorable...

...and took a little nap.

Lillie and Lydia had no problem finding fun.
Their imagination guides their entertainment.
Even the simple things can be loads of fun for an hour or so...

A hand-me-down wagon...

Lydia discovered that pulling even a full load isn't so hard when one is headed down a hill...

...In fact, the momentum can make the wagon go so fast...
...that one might think it is going to run over the puller!

There were squeals from Lydia, afraid she would be run over.  There were squeals from Lillie, afraid she would wind up overturned in a ditch or something.  The wagon coasted to a stop and the fun was revisited...

...on down the drive they went.

Just for the record, Lillie had pulled the wagon with Lydia as the passenger up the slope to the barn.  There was a bit more grunting and straining on that trip!

The wagon also made for a great retreat for refreshing...

...and reflecting when somebody else was getting a lesson on filling a hay basket.

This is one of my favorite shots of the afternoon.

Both girls look like they are having loads of fun.  The shadows captured by the camera highlight the rare warmth of the winter day.  The capture is almost like an old classic pose.  Wouldn't this be a cool photo to enlarge and create as a silhouette?
