Because she really, really is the Queen!
Really.
She was just he Queen of Kindergarten.
Now, we all know that is no small accomplishment...
After all, there are two whole classes in the kindergarten population.
Being he Queen of Kindergarten, she selected just the right gown for her official coronation...
Her mother and she studied and selected just the right shoes...
Knowing how important accessories are to the perfect Queenly ensemble, she shopped through all available necklaces before choosing just the right one from her mother's baubles...
Her hair had to be styled...just so...
You know, simple, highlighting but not obscuring the face...
The smile had to be practiced...
And polished to the point of dazzling.
Then, there was also the requirement of being escorted by just the right King.
You know, the one who has an infectious smile and sense of style.
Finally, there was the wait.
For weeks they waited and monitored the donations for the school fundraiser.
There were the usual contributors...
Patrons of the king's grandmother's hair salon or the queen's father's lawn-care, friends, neighbors, aunts and uncles, and grandparents all contributed or bought supper tickets and t-shirts...
All in the name of fundraising to provide a new playground for the school..
And, of course, in the name of determining an over-all King and Queen.
Then, there was a long wait of THE day itself...
Coronation Day...
Dodge-Ball Tournament followed by an Auction-Fundraiser Day...
Each grade had selected a king and queen representative.
Then...
The crown was carefully placed...
And the flowers were bestowed...
On the Queen of the World...
At least the world of Lydia's school!
